How to Register

Choose the account type that applies to you and follow the steps below to register as a private buyer or motor trader.

GET STARTED

Choose your buyer type

Registration requirements differ depending on whether you are purchasing privately or as part of the motor trade.

Registering as a private buyer

Private buyers are welcome to attend and bid in person at Newark Motor Auctions.

Bring photographic identification

Please bring a valid passport or driving licence when registering.

Provide proof of address

A recent bank statement or utility bill dated within the last three months is required.

Bid in the auction hall

Private buyers must attend the auction in person to bid and purchase vehicles.

Pay your deposit

A 10% deposit, subject to a minimum of £300, is required after the vehicle is sold.

Please note

Buyer’s fees are payable in addition to the vehicle’s hammer price. All vehicles are sold as seen and without warranty.

Registering as a trade buyer

Motor traders can apply online for a trade account and access additional bidding options.

Photographic identification

Provide a valid passport or driving licence.

Proof of business address

Upload a bank statement or utility bill dated within the last three months.

Motor trade insurance

Evidence of valid motor trade insurance is required to qualify for a trade account.

VAT number where applicable

Include your VAT registration details when completing the application.

Fees, payments and collections

Everything you need to know about paying for and collecting your vehicle after a successful purchase at Newark Motor Auctions.

01 PAYMENT INFORMATION

Fees & Payments

Once you have successfully purchased a vehicle, payment must be completed promptly to secure your purchase.

Payment deadline

Payment must be completed within 24 hours of purchasing the vehicle.

Cash payments

Cash is accepted up to £8,500 per account, per day.

Personal debit cards

Personal debit card payments are accepted.

Bank transfer

Payment can also be made by bank transfer.

02 VEHICLE COLLECTION

Collections

Once your vehicle has been paid for in full, it can be collected from the sold vehicle compound.

Payment must be complete

Vehicles can only be released once full payment has cleared.

Collect from the sold compound

Our team will direct you to the relevant collection area on arrival.

Storage charges

If the vehicle remains uncollected after 72 hours, storage charges of £10 + VAT per day will apply.

How to buy a vehicle at auction

From checking in for bidding to paying your deposit, here is what to expect when buying a vehicle at Newark Motor Auctions.

01 BEFORE THE AUCTION

Check in for bidding

Visit the buyers desk before the auction begins to register, confirm your details and receive the information you need to bid.

Bring your identification Private buyers should bring valid photo ID and proof of address.
02 FIND YOUR VEHICLE

Choose the vehicle you want

Review the stock, make a note of the lot number and decide your maximum bid before the vehicle reaches the auctioneer.

Inspect before bidding Vehicles are sold as seen, so satisfy yourself with the vehicle before bidding.
03 DURING THE AUCTION

Bid under the rostrum

When your chosen vehicle is under the rostrum, clearly signal your bid to the auctioneer or rostrum clerk and continue only up to the price you are comfortable paying.

Bids are binding Once your bid is accepted, you are committing to the purchase.
04 WINNING THE VEHICLE

Wait for the gavel

If you are the highest bidder and the auctioneer brings the gavel down, the vehicle is sold to you and the purchase is confirmed.

Remember the buyers’ fee Buyers’ fees are payable on top of the final hammer price.
05 SECURE YOUR PURCHASE

Pay your deposit

Go to the buyers desk after the sale and pay the required deposit to secure the vehicle as yours.

Private buyer deposit

A 10% deposit, subject to a minimum of £300, is required after the vehicle is sold.

06 COMPLETE THE PURCHASE

Pay and collect

Complete full payment within 24 hours. Once the balance has cleared, your vehicle can be released from the sold compound.

Collection deadline Arrange collection promptly to avoid any applicable storage charges.
